Weather Policy
RNYSA will not cancel any practices or games until after 3PM on the day of the event.
We will update on social media Heja if we cancel. Coaches will assist in notifying teams.
If no update had been made, practice and/or games will be held as normal.
RNYSA is the ONLY entity that can cancel a practice or a game. Coaches should reach out to RNYSA in order to make a decision for their team.
Hot Weather Policy
All games and practices will be cancelled in the event that the heat index is above 130°.
In high heat - (85° and up) coaches should allow for more water breaks to ensure hydration and allow players to cool off.
Cold Weather Policy
Players are more susceptible to pulled muscles and other injuries due to cold weather and should wear appropriate clothing to aid in body heat retention.
Cold weather will be assessed by RNYSA on an age-group basis (younger groups will cancel at higher temps than older groups).
As a general rule, if the temperature is projected to be 32° or less (including wind chill) then all soccer activities will be cancelled.
Inclement Weather Policy
Rain - All soccer events will be played as normal during rain unless the fields are deemed unplayable and closed by RNYSA
Thunder/Lightning - if a thunderstorm is too close to the fields, we will immediately suspend events that are already in progress. If a thunderstorm is projected to be an issue, RNYSA may cancel soccer events proactively, but only between 3 PM and the start of the event.
Snow - if there is snow cover on the field all events will be cancelled for safety purposes. If it is snowing but not accumulating (“sticking”) please refer to the Cold Weather Policy above.
